Members of the Q Guild travelled through the centre of London onboard the Worshipful Company of Butchers’ float on 14 November for the Lord Mayor’s Show. Q butchers Tom Newitt, David Harrison, Brindon Addy and Peter Heanen cooked and handed out over 12,000 sausages to some of the 250,000 spectators who had lined the streets of central London to watch the 136 floats go by. The Butcher’s float was lead by 15 butchers on bikes, a large inflatable rib of beef and a number of supporters.

The current Lord Mayor, Nick Anstee invited the Butchers onto his boat for a drinks reception on the Thames after the event. Mr Anstee is the first Lord Mayor that has been a member of the Worshipful Company of Butchers for 106 years.

Southern Chairman Tom Newitt who did a fantastic job of coordinating the float said “We were very privileged to be part of such a high profile event and there was a great response from crowds and the media. We encouraged all those who took sausages to get their meat from their local Q Guild Butcher.

The hot sausages certainly warmed the spectators, armed forces, children in both the parade and the audience on what turned out to be a rather damp day!

Thanks must go to David, Brindon and Peter, walkers, cyclists and all those who helped make the float such a success”.
