European Success
Q butchers came away with fifteen gold medals, nine silver and one bronze from the Meat & Fresh Expo 2009 exhibition which was held at Kortrijk in Belgium.
Leading the way was Lidgates of Holland Park, London, who won seven golds, two silvers and a bronze plus the supreme international award for their Rib Eye Lamb Fillet with Provencal Marinade.
There were three golds each for Harry Coates & Son, Framwellgate Moor, County Durham, and Rothbury Family Butchers of Rothbury, Morpeth. The Blagdon Farm Shop at Seaton Burn, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, won two gold medals with R Turnbull & Sons of Alnwick awarded two silvers.
The British butchers won their awards in the international category trade competition which had classes for sausages and burgers, bacon and cured products, cooked meats and kitchen ready products. Q products were successful in each class.
