Lishman's 'Ham Bag' Princess
Junior school students were challenged to draw up a blueprint for a brand-new ‘ham bag’ in a competition run among local schools by Lishman’s Butchers through its two shops in Ilkley and Bolton Abbey.
Almost 50 entries were received from pupils at Ilkley schools Moorfield Girls, All Saints and Ghyll Royd and Boyle & Petyt, Beamsley.
The victor was five-year-old Lucy Tarring, a pupil at Moorfield Girls School, who bagged an iPod for her drawing of a pig and piglet and can now see her design emblazoned across Lishman’s new ham bags.
Butcher David Lishman is a great believer in fostering local community and education-related partnerships. Passing on a handy hint he explains: “Our new ham bags are made from eco-friendly calico, a material in which hams were traditionally stored in days long gone by.
